About Jack Heggie: Feldenkrais Pioneer in Movement and Performance

Jack Heggie (d.2002) was an internationally respected teacher of the Feldenkrais Method®, author, and pioneer in applying awareness-based learning to athletic performance and human movement. Best known for integrating the principles of the Feldenkrais Method with running, golf, skiing, and vision improvement, Jack helped thousands of people discover more efficient, graceful, and enjoyable ways to move.
Before entering the world of human movement, Jack earned a degree in physics and spent a decade working as a digital computer design engineer, programmer, and field engineer. His scientific background gave him a unique perspective on learning, organization, and human performance—qualities that became hallmarks of his teaching.
Jack studied directly with Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais in both Israel and the United States and continued his education with senior Feldenkrais trainers Ruthy Alon, Mia Segal, and Shlomo Efrat. His ability to translate complex ideas into practical experiences made him one of the most respected voices in the Feldenkrais community.
Throughout his career, Jack maintained private practices in Boulder, Colorado, and Dallas, Texas, while teaching workshops internationally. His programs demonstrated that improving movement is not simply about developing stronger muscles or better technique, but about refining awareness, coordination, and the relationship between the mind and the body.
Jack is the author of Running with the Whole Body and creator of the acclaimed audio programs A Healthy Back in Less Than 20 Minutes a Day, Total Body Golf, Running with the Whole Body, and Total Body Vision. His work continues to influence athletes, movement professionals, and anyone seeking to move with greater ease, efficiency, and enjoyment.
Although Jack passed away in 2002, his teachings remain a lasting contribution to the Feldenkrais Method® and continue to inspire students and practitioners around the world.
