From Tension To Transformation

My Journey Through Movement, Awareness, And Learning

I’m a Feldenkrais Practitioner with over 25 years of experience helping people reclaim freedom in how they move, feel, and live. But I didn’t arrive here the usual way.

As a kid, I struggled with dyslexia across all systems—visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Reading and writing felt like battles I couldn’t win. I was terrible at sports. Social situations stirred anxiety. School… well, school sucked. I knew I was intelligent, but I couldn’t find a path that made sense in a world built for conventional learners.

In my early 20s, I discovered NLP and Ericksonian hypnosis—systems that gave me language for my inner world. I began understanding my internal processes: how I thought, how I felt, how I learned. I gained tools to communicate more effectively and to relate to myself with greater awareness and compassion.

But years of chronic anxiety had taken their toll. I was living with pain, tension, and restricted breathing. That’s when I had my first Feldenkrais lesson—with Jack Heggie.

It was unlike anything I’d ever experienced.

Over the course of several private lessons, my posture shifted. My breathing eased. I felt stronger, calmer, and more resourceful. Jack—renowned for his work with elite athletes and high performers—became a mentor. Under his guidance, I began to see that movement and awareness could unlock the body and the mind. That the two were not separate—but parts of a single, intelligent system.

That insight changed everything. It led me to become a Feldenkrais practitioner.

I Love Learning From Experience

I trained at Feldenkrais Resource under some of the field’s leading teachers, including Elizabeth Beringer. The experience was life-changing—not just professionally, but personally. It gave me a way to move through the world that felt aligned with who I truly am.

Now, with over 25 years of experience, I bring together:

  • Deep somatic intelligence from the Feldenkrais Method
  • Conversational change work using NLP
  • Emotional insight from a lifetime of lived transformation

Students describe my lessons as calming, clarifying, surprising—and life-changing. They leave not just moving better, but feeling better about themselves. They walk away with a renewed sense of possibility.

Helping You Find Your Way—From the Inside Out

My approach is especially helpful for people who:

  • Feel like traditional movement practices haven’t worked for them
  • Are recovering from injury, burnout, or chronic pain
  • Want to improve performance, posture, or creativity
  • Are exploring personal growth and inner freedom
  • Want to become the most integrated, capable version of themselves

The truth is: many of us have been taught to override our sensations. To push through. To disconnect. My work is about gently undoing that—with intelligence, compassion, and awareness.

What Many People Don't Know About Me! 🤘🏼

I’m a lifelong metalhead. From Sabbath to Opeth to avant-rockers like Fred Frith, I love sound that bends rules and opens space—just like good movement does. Many of my clients know that I am a metalhead, and they find the juxtaposition of my musical taste and mellow personality endearing.

What I Offer Now

• Weekly Feldenkrais classes (floor & chair-based) in a supportive community

• One-on-one private sessions, in person or online

• A growing audio lesson library for guided home practice

• A new streaming platform (coming soon!) for on-demand learning wherever you are

This Is More Than Movement

“Al’s lessons helped me feel calmer, taller, and more at home in myself—not just in my body, but in my life.” — MM

The Feldenkrais Method gave me a way of learning that fit both my brain and my body.

It changed how I breathe, how I move, how I live.

I believe it can do the same for you.
