This is a simple and intriguing lesson filled with detailed awarenesses with lots of space for sensing your personal experience. In the lesson we integrate the movements of the shoulders with the head, and the movements of the hip with the head and the shoulders. We cultivate a diagonal pathway between each hip and the opposite shoulder … an ability that is essential for crawling, walking, and many other daily movements.
This lesson is also a nice introduction to Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® because I bring into subjective experience several essential principals of the Method:
- Why we scan
- Importance of resting
- The reasons for reducing the effort
- How small movements benefit more than large ones
- How varying criteria changes what we feel and improves our decision making about ‘what feels right.’
