A Classical Twist: Ease Tension, Breathe Freely, Flip Lightly

These three Feldenkrais lessons build on each other to refine your ability to twist with ease and clarity. As you progress, you’ll discover how small shifts in breath, shoulder, and eye coordination can transform the way you move—and the way you feel.

What You’ll Experience

  • Deep release through your ribs, spine, and pelvis
  • A clearer, freer twist through your whole torso
  • Coordinated breath, eyes, and movement
  • Subtle differentiation that leads to surprising agility
  • A martial-arts-inspired twist that flips your legs and pelvis with ease

Listen to the Introduction

The Lessons

  • Lesson 1 – Twisting Foundations: Coordinating head and shoulder movement with the breath, you’ll begin to unravel long-held tension through the chest, neck, and ribs. (AY 465, 46:59)
  • Lesson 2 – Lightness Through the Shoulders and Eyes: Add speed, oscillation, and eye movements to refine left/right differentiation and soften unnecessary effort. (AY 466, 43:49)
  • Lesson 3 – The Martial Art of Effortless Twisting: Integrate everything—breath, vision, and movement—into a dynamic yet soft flipping of the pelvis and legs. Surprisingly powerful. (AY 467, 49:42)

  1. new insight and wonderful mobilization of upper back and ribs

  2. Al’s presentation is clear, calm, precise, and aware of the possible pitfalls of overdoing—for example, cautioning when to do a small movement when the variation is challenging. He repeats just enough, and occasionally quotes Dr. Feldenkrais when it is appropriate and helpful. Highly recommended.

(Buyers should be aware that, except for the first of the three, these are not beginner’s lessons.)
